I loved Mazey Eddings’ YA novel Tilly in Technicolor — and I loved the MMC’s musician sister Cubby. Here, in You Won’t Forget Me, we get Cubby’s story as she and her band/dysfunctional found family get thrown into the spotlight. She’s already gotten some attention thanks to her ex-boyfriend, who shot to fame with a misogynistic song about her (gag). But then, a drunken picture of her and her bandmate Harry goes viral, and their label wants them to seize the opportunity by fake dating.

Here’s the problem — Cubby is actually grappling with feelings for her other bandmate and best friend Darcy. Things have been confusing ever since they were teenagers, when they shared an intense kiss, and it only gets more confusing as the media and fans dissect every aspect of the band’s love lives. Both girls grew up thinking they were straight, and they’re scared of losing each other, so they retreat. They simply follow the narrative. And, man, the tension with the band… not just between the girls, but with everyone…

Cubby, Darcy, and Harry were great, and I adored their relationships. They had history, they had admiration for each other, but they weren’t afraid to call each other out on their bullshit. I wanted a bit more from the other two band members, but as a whole, the band worked. They were frustrating, for sure, but I thought their fighting came from an interesting, emotional place. Another great read from Mazey. And another queer love story about musicians fake dating checked off my list! (My last arc was Shapes of Love by L.V. Peñalba 😜💜)

**Much thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. You Won’t Forget Me will be released on June 9, 2026.
